The number of appeals from citizens of the Russian Federation who are abroad has increased fivefold due to the discrediting of the rights of Russians by the West. This was stated by the Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova. She believes that it is necessary to protect Russian citizens, so she suggested issuing passports to Russians at consulates abroad.
“I am submitting an initiative to the government to issue internal passports to our citizens through the Russian consulates in the host country,” Ms. Moskalkova wrote in Telegram.
Speaking at the world thematic conference of Russian compatriots abroad, the Ombudsman explained that obtaining a passport for citizens abroad is expensive, since you need to go to Russia.
The Ombudsman also introduced a draft on recognizing as citizens of the Russian Federation children born abroad in mixed marriages without the consent of one of the halves of the family.
According to the UN for 2021, Russia ranks third in terms of migration of citizens – about 11 million Russians lived abroad. Since the beginning of the special operation, citizens have been more actively leaving for Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan. According to sources Forbes at the beginning of October, from 600 thousand to 1 million Russians left Russia since the beginning of mobilization. The Kremlin called these figures “some kind of duck.”
