Moscow surgeons cut out a tumor the size of a volleyball from a schoolboy

Surgeons of the Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital of the Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov was cut out of the chest of a 13-year-old teenager a tumor the size of a volleyball, informs hospital public.
The schoolboy ended up in a hospital bed with suspected pneumonia, but subsequent tests revealed that there was a large neoplasm in the child’s chest.
The overgrown tumor pressed the boy on his lung and mediastinal organs. As a result, the child was prescribed a course of chemotherapy.
According to the doctors, the process of separating the tumor from healthy organs was very precise and careful – this played an important role in why the treatment was successful.
Soon after the operation, the compressed lung began to expand, and subsequent tissue studies confirmed the death of malignant cells.
