Moscow region operative jailed for 4 years for mediation in giving a bribe

A lengthy trial in the case of two senior officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who were accused of taking a bribe to stop criminal prosecution, ended the other day in the Zamoskvoretsky District Court. It was not possible to prove the involvement of a high-ranking security official from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Shchukino district in the crime, and a detective from the Moscow Region police was imprisoned for 4 years.

As previously reported by MK, on ​​February 28, 2022, the detective of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moscow Region, in a private car parked on Lyusinovskaya Street, received 1 million 800 thousand rubles from a resident of Sergiev Posad. The briber was threatened with criminal prosecution, and he was offered to pay off the trouble. True, he agreed to the deal only for appearances – almost all the bills were dummies provided by the FSB officers.

As Anatoly Torkunov, the lawyer of the former security officer, explained, a resident of Sergiev Posad who had problems with the law presented himself as an employee of the Economic Security Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation and offered various people a solution to their problems with state bodies or debts. Citizens paid money, but their issues were not resolved in any way. One of his clients, whom the “fake” FSB officer promised to deal with the debt of a legal entity registered to her, filed an application with law enforcement agencies on the fact of fraud. Then the swindler turned to an old acquaintance – the detective of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Moscow Region with a request not to start criminal prosecution. He agreed, saying that the issue would be resolved through the mediation of the police chief of the MIA Shchukino. The final amount of the bribe was also determined – it amounted to three million rubles, of which one million was due to the detective, the rest to his colleague. But already after the first tranche, the bribe-takers were detained.

However, it was impossible to establish the guilt of the sheriff. The former security official did not admit his guilt – he said that during the check against the fake FSB officer he was ill with covid, so he did not know about it. He insisted that he did not receive any money and did not plan to receive it. It also turned out to be impossible to draw a conclusion about his complicity from the correspondence in the messenger with the detective.

As a result, the former deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was released in the courtroom, and the arrest was removed from his property. The ex-detective was found guilty of fraud, he was given 4 years in a penal colony.
