Moscow region municipal deputy Boris Nadezhdin submitted documents to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to register as a candidate in the Russian presidential elections, which will be held in 2024.
“I and my entire large team have just submitted documents and notified the Central Election Commission that I have nominated myself as a candidate for the presidency of Russia. From this moment, or rather, already three minutes, I am an officially nominated candidate and can conduct election campaigning, but for now only in the media,” Mr. Nadezhdin said in a video published in Telegram-politics channel.
December 23 VII Congress of the “Civil Initiative” put forward Boris Nadezhdin as a candidate for the Russian presidential election. The party is not represented in the State Duma, so Mr. Nadezhdin needs to collect 100 thousand signatures by the end of January to register his candidacy. As Boris Nadezhdin clarified, he will be able to begin collecting signatures only after the Central Election Commission gives permission to open an election account. This, he said, could take three to four days.
