The large landing ship (LHD) Novocherkassk, attacked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Feodosia, is used to transport personnel and military equipment, said military expert, reserve colonel Anatoly Matviychuk.
The BDK is designed to transport marine personnel and equipment; in all likelihood, during the attack it was carrying out patrols or was standing at a dock where repairs were being made, the expert shared the details. “I believe that there was some kind of gunner on the shore, the hit was not accidental. Or the sabotage group transmitted the coordinates of the ship,” the analyst said.
“Novocherkassk” is valuable for the Navy, so a blow to it, although not critical, is extremely unpleasant for Russia, the specialist concluded.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the large landing ship Novocherkassk was damaged in Feodosia while repelling an attack by the Ukrainian armed forces on Crimea. According to the Russian military department, the Ukrainian army tried to strike the peninsula using aircraft guided missiles.
