The Moscow City Duma has chosen the day on which the mayoral elections will be held. They will take place on the second Sunday of September 2023 – the 10th. A single voting day is scheduled for the same day. According to Kommersant, the list of candidates for mayor of the capital in the upcoming elections will be limited to representatives of parliamentary parties.
“The adoption and official publication of this resolution will give the official start to the election campaign of the mayor of Moscow in 2023,” said Alexei Shaposhnikov, chairman of the Moscow City Duma, during a speech at a meeting.
On June 9, the Moscow city branch of the United Russia party will hold a conference at which the party’s candidate will be presented. As before wrote “b”, it will be the current mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin. As a party candidate, he will run for the first time: earlier, Mr. Sobyanin went to the polls as an independent candidate.
His opponent from the Communist Party should be the grandson of the party leader, Moscow City Duma deputy Leonid Zyuganov. From “Fair Russia – For the Truth” the head of the metropolitan branch of the State Duma deputy Dmitry Gusev plans to participate in the campaign. The Liberal Democratic Party announced its readiness to nominate 31-year-old vice-speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov for mayor. “New People” will nominate the candidacy of the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov.
