The Moscow City Duma at a meeting on June 7 will consider a draft resolution on the appointment of elections for the mayor of Moscow, should from the announcement published on the website of the capital’s parliament.
“The agenda of the meeting of the Moscow Parliament, which will be held on Wednesday, June 7, includes five draft laws of the city of Moscow and two draft resolutions of the Moscow City Duma. <...> Chairman of the Moscow City Duma Alexei Shaposhnikov (Faction of the United Russia party) will present a draft resolution of the Moscow City Duma “On the appointment of the election of the Mayor of Moscow,” the report says.
Commission for organizing the work of the Moscow City Duma contributed to the parliament a draft resolution on setting the date for the election of the mayor of the capital on May 30. According to the draft resolution, the elections are proposed to be scheduled on a single voting day – September 10. The decision to call elections must be made no earlier than 100 days and no later than 90 days before voting day.
Earlier today, Vedomosti, citing sources wrotethat the Moscow conference of “United Russia” will propose to nominate the current mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, to the election of the head of the capital on June 9.
Sobyanin was appointed mayor of Moscow in 2010 by presidential decree. In 2013 and 2018 he participated in the elections as a self-nominated candidate.
