The share of Russians looking confidently into the future remains at a record high for the second year in a row, showed survey VTsIOM. In 2023, 59% of respondents look confidently into the future; in 2022, this figure was 61%. For comparison: in 2005, less than a third of respondents (31%) felt confident in their future. For the first time, the number of positive responses exceeded half in 2014. The commentary to the survey notes the adaptability of Russians to external factors that throw them out of balance in turbulent times.

Most respondents associate confidence in the future with having a stable job (22%), timely payment of wages and material wealth in general (19%), and well-being in the family (17%). Slightly more than one in ten (11%) noted the normal situation in the country and stability, and slightly less (9%) believe in their own strength.
