The Ecoplast plant, which has resident status of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, processed 25% more plastic in 2023 than in 2022. In addition, the company’s laboratory has developed a modifying additive that improves the characteristics of the finished product.

“The circular economy is included in the list of socio-economic development initiatives until 2030, approved by the Russian government. One of the priority areas for its development is to increase the volume of secondary raw materials used in various industries,” said Vladislav Ovchinsky, Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Moscow Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.

He added that Moscow processing enterprises are making a significant contribution to achieving the goal. For example, a SEZ resident recycled more than 5,300 tons of plastic in 2023. Moscow entered into an agreement with him, under which he built a collection center for electronic equipment. Ecoplast also modernized its production process. Additives have been added to the recycled granules to increase the durability of products made from granules.

According to the executive director of the enterprise, Alexey Korolev, in order for the ideas of a circular economy to be more actively implemented in practice, processors need to not only provide producers with the required amount of secondary raw materials, but also ensure their high quality.
