Donor centers in Russia received more than 24 thousand people after the terrorist attack in Crocus

The head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA), Veronika Skvortsova, said that after the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, more than 24 thousand people visited donor centers in Russia, 10 thousand liters of whole blood and almost 2 thousand liters of plasma were collected.

“In the regions of Russia, we are seeing a massive arrival of people to blood collection centers as a manifestation of their personal contribution to the fight against evil. In the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories and the Astrakhan region, there was a particularly high donor flow,” the FMBA press service reports the words of Mrs. Skvortsova (quoted from “RIA News”).

The head of the FMBA noted that the Russian Federation currently has sufficient supplies of blood and its components. According to her, the nationwide unity of Russians gives everyone the opportunity to show compassion and solidarity, as well as to create reserves of donor blood that will repel any possible attacks and threats.

Previously, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development Anastasia Rakova reportedthat on March 23 and 24, residents of the capital donated more than 2 tons of blood for victims of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall. She clarified that over the weekend more than 7 thousand people came to blood donation centers.

The terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall occurred on the evening of March 22. Armed people burst into the building and shot visitors and employees. Afterwards they set fire to the concert complex and disappeared. According to the latest data, 139 people were killed in the terrorist attack and 182 were injured. Four suspected terrorists were detained and arrested. The FSB reported that they were detained while trying to cross the border with Ukraine. The court also arrested three more people in connection with the case.
