In the Russian Federation, 41% of cinema halls have closed since the beginning of the SVO in Ukraine, the head of the Association of Cinema Owners (AVK) Alexei Voronkov shared the details.
The information about the closed cinema halls was received as of August of the current year. It is reported that in total in the Russian Federation there are 5.7 thousand cinema halls. This situation was caused by the sanctions of the West, in particular, the withdrawal or suspension of activities in the Russian market of the largest film companies.
According to Voronkov, currently the planning horizon for domestic films has been reduced to a maximum of 3 months, no one plans for foreign films. “The cinema survival planning horizon has been reduced to two weeks,” he said.
The head of AVK also added that just over 150 of the 2.1 thousand cinemas in Russia are now closed, and in a number of large 12-screen cinemas, only 50% of the halls are working as a result of a lack of content.
