More than 2 million Russian passports have been issued in new regions – Kommersant

One of the priority tasks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is documenting residents of new regions of the Russian Federation, said Oleg Agarkov, head of the Rostov main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to him, over 2 million passports were issued in these four regions.
During a report on the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the legislative assembly of the Rostov region, Mr. Agarkov said that in 2023, 716 Rostov police officers were sent to new regions. According to him, the information center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Rostov region registered more than 1 million residents of new regions of the Russian Federation during the year.
“In the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, servers have been installed and maintained for receiving and processing data cards with a connection to centralized records. Fingerprint information is being received and processed in the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics,” said Oleg Agarkov (quoted by Interfax).
On September 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin included the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into Russia following the results of referendums held there. In December 2023, Mr. Putin reportedthat it is planned to allocate 1 trillion rubles annually for the development of new regions.
