On the anniversary of the death of the founder of the Liberal Democratic Party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a monument to the politician was opened at his grave at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow. The 2.75 m high bronze sculpture was created by Andrei Kovalchuk, People’s Artist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. The words of Mr. Zhirinovsky are engraved on the granite pedestal: “I will defend the Russians! I don’t want to lie here in the Garden of Eden. I’d rather go somewhere in the taiga half-starved, but help people.”

On April 11, 2016, a monument to the politician made by Zurab Tsereteli was unveiled in the courtyard of the Institute of World Civilizations, and a street in the village of Malogneushevo, Rylsky District, Kursk Region, was also named after him.
