The Ministry of Health of Russia will allocate a special quota for the mobilized and their families, with the help of which they will be able to use reproductive services free of charge. Their list, in particular, will include infertility treatment and storage of spermatozoa in a cryobank.
“The subsequent free use of conserved genetic material for assisted reproductive technologies is regulated by law if there is evidence under compulsory medical insurance,” Igor Trunov, president of the Union of Lawyers of Russia (SAR), told TASS, who asked the government to introduce a quota.
He explained that the program will be implemented as part of the compulsory medical insurance system (CMI) and is designed for 2022-2024. Now the ATS intends to apply for assistance in the cryopreservation of biomaterials in the interests of several families in which the men were mobilized for military service.
