“They are nice guys who just don’t know the laws”

Russian rappers are actively “worked out” on the site of the Safe Internet League. This was told by the head of the organization Ekaterina Mizulina. Performers popular among young people are collected and told what will happen to them if they do not remove content that is dangerous, according to the organization, from the Web.

First of all, this applies to songs with a mention of drugs. Mizulina admitted that the rappers with whom she had a chance to talk turned out to be nice guys who simply do not know the laws. After talking with social activists, the performers promise to remove content for which now you can fall under an administrative article, and from the new year 2024 – even under a criminal one.

One of the performers whom the Safe Internet League set on the right path was Instasamka (Daria Zoteeva). The other day, a joint photo of Zoteeva and Mizulina hit the net. The head of the Safe Internet League, however, herself was not happy with such a leak. It turns out that the organization tries to communicate with rappers away from prying eyes and ears.

– There have been quite a lot of such meetings in our organization in the last month and a half. We published isolated materials, but most of these conversations took place in a closed format. This performer published materials about the meeting without our consent. The agreement was that it would not be published, – said Ekaterina Mizulina.

At the same time, Mizulina noted that the nature of the dialogue between network security defenders and rappers is constructive:

– The purpose of the meetings is preventive and educational. As it turned out, most of these performers are not familiar with the legislation of our country. Many of them are very young citizens. They break the law, but they don’t realize they’re doing it. It usually took place in such a peaceful, kind format. They asked certain questions, we answered them.

In addition to the activists of the Safe Internet League, according to Mizulina, representatives of the parent community also participated in the debriefing.

“Most of the performers with whom we held such meetings made a decision, and in any case we were promised that they would remove such content, and all these songs would be removed from public access,” Mizulina said.

At the same time, the head of the League emphasized that she would not enter into a dialogue with rappers-foreign agents, among which, for example, Morgenstern.

– Of course, there will be no meetings with foreign agents. These people will not be present at our site – this is our principled position. Therefore, they can communicate with their Western curators, with representatives of embassies of different states. They are on their way there.
