Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) should become a self-sufficient macro-region in order to lay the foundation for future joint actions, reported press service of the Russian government.
At the same time, the EAEU must remain attractive and open to other partners. In a single space, the priority will be the formation of common markets for goods and services, finance, investment and labor. In addition, it will be provided with key goods and resources – this topic is especially relevant against the backdrop of difficulties with supplies to the global market, Mishustin believes.
Mishustin recalled that the Union ranks third in the world in the production of wheat, potatoes and livestock products, and is also fully self-sufficient in gas, oil, oil products and electricity. The head of the Cabinet also stressed the importance of joint work on the development of geological exploration and infrastructure, which is needed for a stable supply of resources.
May 25 Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on the successful development of cooperation within the EAEU and added that Russia values partnership with the countries of the “five”. According to the president, it is built “on the principles of mutual benefit, respect and consideration of each other’s interests.”
