In Russia, it is necessary to more actively implement the results of domestic research and development, passivity is now fatal, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the CIPR-2023 plenary session on the topic “Digital independence of industrial Russia”.

“Today is a time of unique opportunities and great achievements. I urge everyone to act. More actively implement the results of domestic research and development. Passivity now – more than ever – is fatal, – leads his words to RIA Novosti.

As Mishustin emphasized, bold and extraordinary initiatives are required that will help Russia achieve a high level of digital maturity in a short time. He also noted the importance of being one step ahead in all key areas of industrial development. “Not to catch up, but to set our own standards for technologies, goods and services,” the Russian prime minister said.

In March, during a speech in the State Duma with a report on the work of the government in 2022, Mishustin declaredthat the Russian government supports the development of domestic software (SW) to achieve self-sufficiency of domestic digital solutions. Mishustin noted that almost 80% of foreign solutions already have domestic counterparts. He added that in 2023 the launch of pilot projects for the introduction of Russian computer-aided design systems at the largest enterprises will be fully completed.

Last summer, Russian President Vladimir Putin saidthat the withdrawal of foreign companies from the Russian market will allow the country to get rid of the “dangerous and humiliating dependence” on Western technologies.
