Air taxi developer Wisk becomes a subsidiary of Boeing

The American corporation Boeing has consolidated 100% of the developer of unmanned electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft Wisk. About it informs portal Barron’s and confirm in the company.
“In 2023, Wisk became a wholly owned subsidiary of Boeing. Although we operate separately, this relationship allows us to leverage Boeing’s experience in development, testing and certification.” says on the developer’s site.
The startup was founded in 2019, although the team says it has been exploring electric VTOL flight since 2010. The company is headquartered in California. According to the company’s own data, Wisk has already developed several generations of aircraft and conducted more than 1,600 test flights. The startup is led by Brian Yutko. Previously, Wisk was owned by Google co-founder Larry Page’s Kitty Hawk Corp.
In 2022 it became knownthat, as part of a new funding round, Wisk has raised $450 million in investment from Boeing. Then it was reported that the startup will spend these funds on expanding the staff, and will also work on launching a commercial air taxi over the next five years. The company presented the first prototype of the device in 2018.
