Mintsifra announced a very small number of “white” hackers in Russia

There are very few “white” hackers (pentesters) in Russia, and the existing teams were inundated with orders, so the business launched new training programs for such specialists. This was announced by Vladimir Bengin, Director of the Cybersecurity Department of the Ministry of Digital Development.

“By the way, we have very few pentesters in the country. Over the past year, all top teams have been busy – and not only top teams, but also small teams, very small ones also say: all orders are very high. And it turns out that we have few hackers. Therefore, several trainings have been launched. Thank you companies for this.” leads his words to RIA Novosti.

According to him, two or three new courses have appeared in the last four months.

How wrote earlier than Vedomosti, the adoption of the bill on white hackers may be delayed. The initiative has been publicly discussed since the summer of 2022. At that time, the Ministry of Digital Development began to study the possibility of introducing the concept of bug bounty (searching for vulnerabilities in software for a fee) into the legal field. The movement of the bill was complicated due to the position of the FSB and the FSTEC (Federal Service for Technical and Export Control), which are reluctant to liberalize the provisions of the Criminal Code.

At the moment, three Russian companies have payout programs for “white hat” hackers who test information systems for vulnerabilities on a contractual basis: Positive Technologies, Synclit and BI.ZONE.

Earlier in April, the Federal Customs Service (FTS) of Russia has undergone hacker attack, as a result of which the work of the Unified Automated Information System of Customs Authorities (UAIS TO) was partially paralyzed.
