Ministry of Sports: the project “Kyokushin to School” is successfully implemented on Sakhalin

The Kyokushin to School project launched in September 2022 is being successfully implemented in the Sakhalin Region. It was initiated by the three-time world champion in contact karate-kyokushin Khaidar Mantaev and the plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev, the press service of the regional Ministry of Sports reported.

As part of the project, a third variable physical education lesson is being introduced in the schools of the region, which will help teach children in grades 1-4 about Kyokushin, its philosophy and foundations. To date, five schools have already joined the project, the total number of children involved is more than a hundred people. Yulia Svyataya, Leading Advisor of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region, noted that in the future it is planned to expand the number of schools and cities where one can get acquainted with Kyokushin.

One of the schools where the program is being implemented is Secondary School No. 4 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Classes are held once a week with first-graders, who were divided into four groups. The lessons are not obligatory, but the children are happy to attend classes and are interested in this sport. A voluminous program led by instructors from the Sakhalin Kyokushin Federation allows children to learn the basics of this sport, the correct movement and kicks and hands.

The program is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle on the islands, within the framework of which a number of other projects are being implemented: “Skiing to School”, “Sambo to School”, “Swimming for All”, “I’m Flying”, “Skiing to Kindergarten”, “Children’s garden and sport”, “Handball to school”. The introduction of such projects into the educational process helps develop children’s sports interests and contributes to the formation of a healthy lifestyle.
