Ministry of Internal Affairs: about 15 thousand illegal immigrants were deported from the Russian Federation in 2023

Since the beginning of 2023, as part of Operation Illegal 2023, about 15 thousand people who were on Russian territory illegally have been deported from Russia. Maria Volk, official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, spoke about this on Tuesday, November 7.

She clarified that along with this, 447 persons were identified who were on the federal and international wanted list.

Volk said that the operation was carried out by representatives of the Russian security forces together with colleagues from member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Earlier, the head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, said that persons posing a threat to Russia’s national security should be expelled from the country. He also called for strengthening control over the procedure for providing foreign citizens with Russian passports.

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs proposed to register in the Code of Administrative Offenses of the regions responsibility for migrantswho violate norms of behavior. The Tula region can become a pioneer in this area – this topic is already being discussed with representatives of various government bodies.
