Ministry of Industry and Trade: many Nokia and Ericsson specialists are already employed in other companies

“According to information received from market participants, many specialists of the departed companies have already received jobs in Russian organizations. The employment of the rest is now in the process, some of them received offers. The Ministry monitors the development of the situation and, if necessary, specialists will receive assistance and advice on employment,” the ministry said.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that all specialists will be employed, as Russian companies are actively growing and expanding their presence in the market.
Earlier, Kommersant, citing sources in the telecommunications market informedthat the Swedish telecom equipment manufacturer Ericsson is going to close its representative office in Russia by the end of the year and lay off all employees, including those who specialized in technical support on telecom operator networks. On August 22, the company notified the Russian division of the decision to close the representative office and lay off all employees until the end of 2022.
The Finnish manufacturer of telecommunications equipment Nokia also decided to finally leave the Russian market, informed Reuters. According to the agency, Nokia also plans to completely curtail its presence in Russia by the end of 2022.
After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine due to sanctions, the largest telecommunications companies announced their withdrawal from the Russian market and the termination of equipment supplies to the country. Among them were Nokia and Ericsson.
