The Ministry of Health has updated the list of contraindications for a number of professions that require a psychiatric examination. Since teachers were also included in such professions this year, every teacher should now think about whether everything is in order with his sexual identification and whether he has depression. “MK” found out with what diagnoses it will now be impossible to teach the younger generation.

What deviations will psychiatrists reveal in teachers and professors? In addition to dementias, schizophrenia, schizotypal and delusional disorders, in which, for obvious reasons, it is impossible to conduct lessons or lectures, other groups of diagnoses have appeared. For example, the reason for the ban on teaching will be a depressive period and mood disorders (affective disorders). This is a block of diseases in which, according to medical reference books, “the main violation is a change in emotions and mood towards depression or towards elation.”

The banned list for teachers also included phobic and “other anxiety disorders”, as well as “reaction to severe stress and adjustment disorder”.

But of particular interest is the group of diagnoses included in the list, which, according to WHO qualifications, is called “Disorders of personality and behavior in adulthood.” This includes disorders of gender identity and sexual preference. Under the ban and disorders associated with sexual development and orientation. We are talking about undecided with their gender, as well as transsexuals and transvestites.

We asked school workers what they think about passing such a survey.

We haven’t been told about the innovation yet. It is necessary to get acquainted, – says Irina, a primary school teacher from Moscow. But I’m more for than against. I agree that it is better to prevent a breakdown than to treat it later … Teachers need a reboot for sure! This year, the best staff left our school, and it was because of burnout.

– I do not think that such an examination will scare away young specialists, – says Andrey, a secondary school teacher from St. Petersburg. – Most often, young people refuse the profession for other reasons: difficulties in establishing contact with children, excessive criticism and nit-picking from older colleagues, low wages with a heavy workload, which is immediately hung on a teacher who has not yet fledged. On the other hand, the examination will weed out mentally unbalanced people, from whom both students and teachers can suffer.

But the teacher from Perm, Irina, is categorically against such examinations. She suggests that school administrators may use them as a tool to remove objectionable or “uncomfortable” teachers.

– It is possible that such things cannot be done in the capital, but in the outback the director can easily negotiate with the local dispensary to pick up a suitable diagnosis for the obstinate teacher. The list of prohibited “diseases” is too wide. Here and depressive disorders, and sexual preferences, which I generally consider a personal matter for each person. For example, suppose a student complains to his parents that the teacher in the classroom expressed a loyal attitude towards gays, or that he himself is like that, and they tell the director. Teacher – for examination. Or maybe this is a great specialist, maybe the children went to his lessons like a holiday!

By the way, the Uchitel trade union has already expressed through the media that the mandatory psychiatric examination is a “superfluous and unnecessary” procedure, because teachers already undergo regular medical examinations (including visits to a psychiatrist). By the way, the draft resolution itself with a list of diagnoses is still under discussion. But most likely the list will be approved, because in our country they are very meticulous about “disorders of gender identity and sexual preference”.
