In Russia, no deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded among those who were vaccinated in less than six months of the disease. This was reported to RIA Novosti by Vladimir Chulanov, chief freelance specialist of the Russian Ministry of Health for infectious diseases.
At the same time, according to him, the vast majority of coronavirus victims were not revaccinated in a timely manner. All of the victims have been more than eight months since their last vaccination.
The infectious disease specialist recalled numerous independent studies. According to their results, vaccination and timely revaccination minimize the risk of death or severe disease. Chulanov also stressed that Russian vaccines have proven effective in recent months, during the active distribution of various sub-variants of the Omicron strain, including Cerberus and Kraken.
The expert also noted that the average age of those who died from coronavirus is 76 years, and every second had at least one chronic disease. According to him, this once again proves the need for timely revaccination of the elderly against COVID-19.
