The consumption of illegal alcohol has decreased in Russia, the press service of the Central Research Institute of Informatization and Health Organization of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation said. RIA Novosti reports this.
The report says that the consumption of unregistered alcohol is constantly declining, from 33% in 2019 to 25.3% in 2022.
At the same time, the estimated consumption of strong alcoholic beverages is decreasing – from 5.5 liters of ethanol in 2018 to 5.1 liters in 2021 and 4.9 liters in 2022, the department noted.
The department believes that such dynamics indicate some improvements in control work in the field of alcohol sales, a reduction in the market for counterfeit products, and at the same time the growth of the market for legal alcohol. In addition, according to the Ministry of Health, alcohol consumption in Russia has begun to decrease.
