Smartphones with lithium-ion batteries should not be left on charge overnight and should not be placed under a pillow, as this increases the risk of fires. This was stated by the director of the department of supervisory activities and preventive work of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Rinat Enikeev. According to him, in 11 months of 2022, gadgets caused over 500 fires.
He explained that if the phone is fully charged, but remains connected to the network, then there is a load on the batteries, which can lead to a fire. “For 11 months of 2022, 509 fires occurred in the country, the objects of which were smartphones, tablets, mobile phones, 440 of them started due to a malfunction of chargers,” Mr. Enikeev told TASS.
On December 29, passengers of the Moscow-Kaliningrad flight to Domodedovo evacuated due to the power bank fire, no one was hurt. On December 30, a plane en route from Khabarovsk to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky made an emergency landing at the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport due to a power bank fire.
