State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov (United Russia) believes that Russian women who have given birth abroad should be deprived of social programs in Russia. Talking to a radio station “Moscow Speaks” he cited as an example those who left to give birth in Argentina, who want to “freely secure dual citizenship for themselves,” and suggested considering the possibility of introducing some kind of restrictions.
“Therefore, those who go to give birth abroad should not apply for parental capital,” said Mr. Milonov. “I think the state is interested in helping Russian mothers, and if she becomes an Argentine mother, let Argentina take care,” said the State Duma deputy, calling those going to give birth abroad in order to obtain citizenship “chickens” with low social responsibility.
“We need to check how some restrictions can be introduced, although a woman has the right to give birth where she wants,” said Vitaly Milonov.
Earlier, six Russian women in late pregnancy, who, according to the Argentine authorities, arrived for “birth tourism”, tried not to let them into the country.
Now the authorities decided suspend the residence permit for those Russians who received it through the birth of a child and did not stay in Argentina.
