Military expert Knutov spoke about the advantages of modernized Russian MLRS

The press service of the state corporation “Rostec” previously reported that the production of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) “Tornado-G” and “Tornado-S” has increased many times in Russia. Military expert Yuri Knutov is convinced that such weapons can allow Russia to win faster in a special operation on the territory of Ukraine.
In conversation with “Evening Moscow” Knutov noted that Tornado-G is a well-known and modernized multiple launch rocket system, which should replace the domestic Grads. The expert explained that this system had changes in missile launch, calculations and coordinates, as well as an upgraded fire control system, and it was equipped with an improved chassis.
As the specialist noted, the range of the Tornado-G reaches 40 kilometers, which distinguishes the complex from the Grad, since it has a higher range and better accuracy of fire. Knutov stressed that this system is best used if the enemy is concentrated in one area.
The expert added that the Tornado-S MLRS could change the course of the special operation. Knutov explained that the main difference from the “G” type is that it has the ability to individually target each missile at a target, as is used on American HIMARS. According to the specialist, an increase in the production of this kind of equipment will contribute to the growth of the firepower of domestic artillery.
Among the advantages of Tornado-S, Knutov singled out the receipt of coordinates in automatic mode, the use of the GLONASS system, automated guidance of missiles, as well as the rapid folding and deployment of MLRS. In addition, the range of Tornado-S, according to the expert, is 120 kilometers and is not inferior to HIMARS. He concluded that the more of these and other types of weapons will be at the front, the faster victory will be won.
