Mikhail Kravets: “It’s good that Avangard won today, but in the next match such a comeback may not be possible”

On Friday, December 1, Avangard at home beat “Neftekhimik” in shootouts 4:3. The meeting was appreciated by the head coach of the Omsk team, Mikhail Kravets.

The mentor was pleased with the result, but not with the content. In his opinion, playing with such a plot was too risky.

– Victory today is the most important thing, of course. There is a result, but a game like it was in the first and second periods is of course not satisfactory for us. Including: an unexpectedly large number of deletions, although lately in games we seem to be deleting very little. There was a lack of coherence, a lack of team action.

But in the third period, after some changes, we added more discipline, more play, and more speed. And they successfully kept the puck and restored balance in the score, losing 1:3. In such cases it is not very easy to return to the game, but we did it. Well done in this regard.

We will analyze and analyze the game, watch the video, because if we want to achieve a good result, then such periods should not exist. This time they came back and eventually won, but next time they may not win back and end up losing. It is important that we were able to compete successfully, but it is better to start the periods more solidly, at good speeds, playing at home in front of our own stands.

– The second link of your attack now is a relatively new combination of three Ivans. Sure, they can play even better in the future, but what are they missing right now?

– There is still a lack of coherence in actions, accuracy in passes, and aggression in someone else’s zone. When we changed the line a little and added Igor Geraskin, he showed himself quite well, the troika managed to score a goal and carried out good attacks.

So here each specific player needs to add all his qualities in order to play well not only in defense, but also in attack.

– Were you surprised when the opponent changed the goalkeeper in the third period at 3:3, and the replacement who came on, by the way, never missed a goal?

– If you talk about why he did it, then it’s better to ask his coach about it. But perhaps he thought that the goalkeeper would not finish the game well, as the team would like. Therefore, he made a substitution and in the end he really “pulled” his team, saving them from a missed goal quite a few times.

After this victory, Avangard takes second place in the East.
