Mikhail Kravets: “Avangard’s main problem today was throw-ins and missed chances”

On August 20, Avangard lost the first match of the tournament in memory of Blinov to Lomotiv with a score of 1:5. The game after its completion was evaluated by the head coach of the “hawks” Mikhail Kravets.

According to the mentor, despite the unpleasant score for Omsk, the content of the match was not so bad.

– The game turned out to be ambiguous, although many of our actions were good even in the first period. Immediately after the first shift, you get a “one to zero” exit, this is just one example. We showed good movement, created chances to score. We won the fight, but lost the standards. It’s good that only once during the match they allowed a removal, but at that moment they conceded a goal. We managed.

And, of course, I would like the attackers to use their chances when throwing. We had a lot of them. Including in “six by four”, and “five by three”.

A lot of new hockey players played today, especially in the central axis. But there were problems on the face-off, there is still work to be done. This has been one of the two main issues today plus standards in general. The second is missed chances in a foreign zone.

And so it seemed to be good in terms of movement and recoil. I upset the last goal a little, because the final 2.5 minutes played perfectly, kept the opponent in his zone, created chances. That’s why you don’t need to relax at the end and get such a fifth goal.

– We talked before the start of the tournament, you said then that most likely the team would play the entire tournament with one line-up. So will it be tomorrow?

– Alas, not always exactly what I planned, it turns out. The same Pyanov – angina. Kulikov – thigh, it will not work out smoothly. We’ll have to change the ingredients a bit. We also have Trikozov, Solovyov, Belyaev, whom we recently took. They can get out sooner.

– How would you rate a very long shootout series, where both teams showed themselves somewhat weakly – only Tkachev scored for our team, and only two players scored for the guests?

– On shootouts – of course, the goalkeeper can’t hit 40 shots in a row. We have to score ourselves. This is a skill, you need to train it and be able to score. We also need to work on this.

I can still assess it this way: in general, this speaks of the skill of goalkeepers and the skill of forwards. The first turned out to be higher than the second. Strikers need to work better on their hands and actions.
