Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that migrants who have committed crimes and were expelled from Russia should not return. He added that citizens of other countries who violate Russian laws are subject to strict criminal liability.
“The practice of applying Russian administrative and criminal law should be used to the fullest. Those who were told “goodbye” at some point should no longer return,” Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Russian media (quoted by TASS).
According to the deputy chairman, law-abiding citizens can come to Russia and work. He explained that “very often you can’t live without migrant workers.” Mr. Medvedev proposed creating a universal database with biometric information to bring the issue of migration under control.
Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview that not all sabotage is committed by migrants. “Some of them are committed by Russian criminals. These are just people who were bought, these are traitors,” he added.
In January, the Russian government approved a migration policy program until 2025. It includes increasing the number of foreigners in Russian universities, issuing residence permits in a simplified manner to graduates and expanding the list of types of electronic visas for Russia.
