“They said they would kill, slaughter”

Migrant children are creating a nightmare for Russian schools. Such messages are increasingly appearing in the news. Against the backdrop of the Muslim pogrom that was carried out at the Dagestan airport, unruly children are attracting more and more attention and making us wonder: why is this all of a sudden and for how long? More cases of bullying occurred in Chelyabinsk and in Valdai, which seems to be completely unaffected by migration.

Chelyabinsk has always been willing to hire visitors from Central Asia – there are many factories in the Southern Urals that require representatives of blue-collar professions. Over decades of migrant activity, densely populated enclaves of migrants have formed in the city.

Educational center No. 3 is located in the Traktorozavodsky district. Housing here is inexpensive, businesses are close, so one of the migrant enclaves has formed in the area. One of the mothers of a 5th grade student complained about bullying from her Tajik classmates. According to the parent, they threatened to kill her son, or rather, to stab him. The child goes to a correctional group and cannot adequately respond to aggressors.

– Sasha (name changed. – Auth.) came to Educational Center No. 3 from another school. These boys immediately started laughing at him. They planted notes with threats, where they wrote that they would kill him, stab him, – said Svetlana, the boy’s mother. – Two migrant classmates constantly provoke quarrels. One time my son was talking to a friend on speakerphone. They didn’t like it. They approached him in the company of their friends, began to insult him and threaten him with physical harm. Later they called him on the phone and tried to “punch in the switch” to which they were going to bring his brothers and sisters.

When Svetlana called the mother of one of the offenders, she said that she spoke Russian poorly and did not understand anything. Conversations with the class teacher and the school administration also led nowhere. However, it is reliably known that migrants also attack other children in the class. One boy was pinned in a corner and beaten by the crowd.

Because of this, two students have already transferred from the class. After the conflict, representatives of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Chelyabinsk region called my mother and also offered to transfer to another school. Svetlana refused and wrote a complaint to the Investigative Committee. Currently, the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has ordered an investigation into the situation.

The Investigative Committee also opened a criminal case following the performance of migrant teenagers in Valdai. A group of children brought the flag of Tajikistan to school and began to provoke a conflict. One of the students asked them to calm down. In response, they promised to kill her after school. Later, audio was distributed around the school – the same students scolded Russia, saying that they would never pick up the Russian flag.

Cases of violence by migrants were recorded in Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Magnitogorsk and other places. At an operational meeting on the investigation of crimes in the migration sphere, Alexander Bastrykin noted that the country continues to increase the criminal activity of foreign citizens. Alarming statistics were presented. Thus, this year, law enforcement agencies have investigated over 31 thousand crimes, in addition, several thousand criminal acts have been committed by persons who acquired citizenship of the Russian Federation less than 10 years ago.

The situation with migrant children has not gone unnoticed. The head of the department noted that group attacks occur in public places and educational institutions, where schoolchildren are subjected to intimidation and forceful pressure from visitors. Many offenders feel impunity and count on support from representatives of ethnic diasporas. All this creates social tension and leads to an escalation of negative sentiments in society, the head of the department noted.

Bastrykin ordered the creation in each regional investigative body of a special unit for the investigation of crimes in the field of migration and the appointment of a curator for this area from among the deputy heads.

While the security forces are strengthening the apparatus to combat unscrupulous migrants, including in schools, parents are not sitting idly by. In Rostov-on-Don, a man dispersed a crowd of migrant children who had attacked a teenager near school No. 18. He was driving past and accidentally saw a large group of teenagers surrounding one boy. Getting out of the car, the Rostovite rudely dispersed the crowd. Now the man’s reactions are being assessed by the Investigative Committee, just like the actions of migrant children.
