The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, commented on yesterday’s riots at Makhachkala airport. He called pogroms and calls for violence against Jews unacceptable and said that last night an attempt at such a “provocation” was stopped in Chechnya.

“An attempt at such a provocation was very quickly stopped last night in the Chechen Republic itself. The regional media, led by the Chechen Minister for National Policy, External Relations, Press and Information Akhmed Dudayev, promptly drew attention to the fake calls and warned residents against rash actions. The police and the National Guard were also put on alert to respond to any provocation,” Ramzan Kadyrov wrote in Telegram.

The head of Chechnya also condemned the “Israeli regime,” sympathized with the Palestinian people and added: “We must be above all this and maintain order on our land. Such actions are unacceptable in any case and will be dealt with very harshly.”

Yesterday evening, October 29, hundreds of Dagestanis gathered at Makhachkala airport to protest against the arrival of Israeli citizens in the country. The crowd broke through the cordon into the terminal and onto the runway, where a plane carrying passengers from Tel Aviv was parked. Four police officers were injured. A criminal case has been opened regarding mass riots. 60 rioters were detained. Today was blocked Telegram channel “Morning of Dagestan”, which called for violence against the Jewish population in Dagestan.

The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said that “Bandera traitors” from Ukraine were behind the riots. With the same statement later spoke President Vladimir Putin at a meeting regarding anti-Semitic protests in the North Caucasus. According to him, the riots at Makhachkala airport on October 29 were inspired through social networks, including from Ukraine by agents of Western intelligence services.
