Microsoft Corporation presented ADVANTA(I)GE INDIA program, under which it will train 2 million Indians in artificial intelligence (AI) skills by 2025. The launch of the program was announced by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella during an official trip to India.

In a speech to Indian businesses in Mumbai, Mr. Nadella urged companies to use AI to increase productivity and improve product quality. Microsoft estimates that 90% of Indian CEOs say the people they hire need AI skills. At the same time, 78% of Indian workers believe that their knowledge and skills in the field of AI are not enough to solve current problems.

Microsoft will begin training Indians in AI skills in medium and small cities and rural areas. Training will be provided through local employment centers, career guidance courses, schools, colleges and universities and is expected to cover 500 thousand students in cities and 400 thousand schoolchildren in remote regions of India.

In addition, the company intends to improve the skills of 250 thousand Indian government officials and expand the capabilities of 2.5 thousand non-profit organizations in the country, which, in turn, will then be able to train another 750 thousand young people to work with AI. As part of this program, Microsoft intends to hold a summit for Indian NGO leaders in April 2024. The company will provide all the equipment and software necessary for training.
