The American corporation Microsoft announced that from November 12 it will begin to block the operation of unlicensed gamepads and adapters for Xbox Series X|S consoles. How stated in the company, such devices may compromise the gaming experience on the platform.
Gamers may already receive messages indicating that their devices are not authorized, which “reduces the gaming experience.” Users are asked to contact their respective stores to request a refund for the purchase of the devices. Gaming accessories manufacturer Brook Gaming has already announced that their gamepads will stop working in the new conditions.
Microsoft’s decision is aimed at manufacturers who have not purchased a license to sell accessories from Microsoft, but continue to market them as compatible with consoles. Controllers that have been officially licensed by companies such as Razer, Thrustmaster or Turtle Beach will continue to work. A complete ban on unlicensed gamepads and adapters will come into force on November 17.
