Microsoft announces new Windows 11 23H2 update

Microsoft announced Windows update to version 23H2. Information about it published company blog.

The main innovation is the artificial intelligence assistant Copilot, which is integrated into Windows – previously it was available only in Office 365 applications. Copilot will be able to analyze, rewrite and explain text in any applications. You can activate it from the taskbar. Public testing will begin in June 2023, after which the utility will be made available to most users.

If the device is connected to a VPN, a corresponding icon will appear on the taskbar for clarity. Along with the indicator, we added a VPN switch to the item with quick settings.

Windows 11 23H2 will learn how to open archives of various formats with standard tools. Now Windows only works with ZIP archives, other formats (7z, RAR, TAR, GZ and others) require third-party programs.

The company will update File Explorer to match the Windows 11 design code with blurry elements and rounder interfaces. The operating system will be able to operate the illumination of peripheral equipment without additional programs. Headsets, keyboards, mice, monitors, and other devices are supported, but supported brands have not been announced.

All innovations will be rolled out gradually to users. Windows 11 23H2 is expected to release in September 2023.

Previously Microsoft announced that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025. Until that date, the operating system will receive security updates. After that, only LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) builds will be supported.
