A non-contact precipitation sensor that will help farmers control the microclimate in greenhouses has been developed in Moscow. The capital manufacturer of intelligent equipment became the author of the idea and its implementation.

“The precipitation sensor is used in automatic climate control systems for industrial greenhouses, irrigation of fields, orchards and orchards, as well as in smart homes. Previously, devices were supplied to the Russian market from Europe,” said Vladislav Ovchinsky, Head of the Department for Investment and Industrial Policy of the capital.

He clarified that the Moscow enterprise “Laboratory of Engineering Systems” has developed a device that is superior to imported counterparts in many respects. The domestic sensor determines the intensity of precipitation, is adapted to the peculiarities of the Russian climate and has high accuracy. At the moment, the device is undergoing complex testing. Already in September it is planned to launch mass production of the device.

According to Igor Sokolov, CEO of the company, a distinctive feature of the development is the non-contact measurement of precipitation. In addition, the device may not require maintenance for a long time. This reduces the cost of preventive calibration work, and also provides ease of use. Among other things, the sensor can be integrated into the “smart” house complex for automatic start of snow melting and roof anti-icing systems.
