The city authorities yesterday opened new stations on the Solntsevskaya metro line – Pykhtino and Vnukovo Airport. “For the first time in Russia, the metro has come to the air harbor,” Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on this occasion. “This is a landmark event for the whole country. The way from Vnukovo to the center of the capital is now economical and comfortable, and transit passengers can move between airports faster.”

According to the City Hall, from the Delovoy Tsentr station to Vnukovo, the journey underground now takes 40 minutes instead of the usual 70 minutes by public transport, from the Michurinsky Prospekt station – 23 minutes instead of 37 minutes. According to the mayor, it takes only 1.5 hours to get to Vnukovo from the capital by car. Thanks to the opening of new stations, the Kievskoye and Borovskoye highways adjacent to the airport will be unloaded, Sergei Sobyanin added.

The station is integrated directly into the airport complex: through the underpass you can get to terminal A, as well as to the underground terminal of Aeroexpress, to the station square. With the opening of two new stations, the construction of the 30-kilometer Solntsevskaya line, which began in 2014, was completed, Sergei Sobyanin said.

Yesterday, the mayor announced plans to launch a new diameter MCD-4 this week, which will connect Aprelevka and Zheleznodorozhny. Earlier, on August 17, MCD-3 Zelenograd-Ramenskoye was launched.
