Merkacheva: Prisoners who participated in the special operation were pardoned by a secret decree

Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation, said that the prisoners who participated in the special operation were released even before they were taken out of the colony. According to her, the decrees on release are classified as they refer to information containing state secrets.

“This, in fact, is explained by our current legislation. There is a list of information classified as state secrets, and they include information, including the military area, ”said “RIA News” Eva Merkacheva.

According to her, in this case, the decree of the President of Russia is also classified, since it contains information about the identity of the participants in the military operation. She did not see the decrees themselves; relatives of the prisoners told her about the availability of documents on release.

“This explains the fact that the Federal Penitentiary Service calmly released people completely. I am almost sure that the Federal Penitentiary Service would not have taken such a risk, but here it releases people who have already been released,” said Eva Merkacheva.

The first group of those released, Ms. Merkacheva added, received the relevant documents on 5 July. To participate in hostilities in Ukraine, they were taken out on “the same day or the next.”

Earlier today, January 9, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov did not give unequivocal answer to the question of whether there were cases of pardon for participation in a special operation. The Kremlin spokesman said in response: “A pardon can only be in accordance with the law.”
