Medvedev: Russian Armed Forces will have “less problems” after Kyiv’s refusal to cease fire on Christmas Day

Russia extended the “hand of Christian mercy” to Ukraine, announcing a ceasefire on Christmas, but Kyiv refused this initiative, now the Russian military will “breathe calmly”, declared First Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in his Telegram channel.

“The hand of Christian mercy was extended to the Ukrainians on the Great Holiday. Their leaders rejected it. I think most of our military personnel taking part in the NWO calmly exhaled when they heard the refusal of the main Ukrainian clowns to cease fire on Christmas. Less problems and slyness,” he wrote.

Medvedev expressed regret that people were deprived of the opportunity to go to church, but Kyiv, in his assessment, understands only brute force.

On the evening of January 5, the Kremlin press service reported on the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin to introduce a ceasefire for 36 hours from noon on January 6 to the end of January 7 in the zone of the special operation in Ukraine. With a corresponding call on the morning of January 5 spoke Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill. The head of state noted that a large number of Orthodox Christians live in the areas of hostilities. Therefore, he called on the Ukrainian side to also declare a ceasefire.

In Kyiv, the initiative of the Russian president was rejected. Thus, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in his video message that Russia, under the pretext of silence in Ukraine, is trying to hide the preparation of a “new wave of aggression.” Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, called this step hypocritical on his Twitter, saying that a “temporary truce” could only begin after the withdrawal of troops. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov, in turn, said that Kyiv rejects any negotiation processes with Russia, transmitted TASS.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the troops received instructions from Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to introduce a ceasefire regime for the dates specified by the president. Acting Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin declaredthat the Russian Armed Forces will not ignore the provocations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the period of the ceasefire.
