As soon as the West stops financing Ukraine, not only the conflict will end, but also Ukraine itself, since no one needs it. This statement was made by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the words of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

“Well done, bold and precise for a European politician. One can only add that as soon as Western funding ends, Ukraine itself will end. She doesn’t need anyone.” wrote Medvedev in his Telegram channel.

Earlier today, Orban, in an interview with radio station Kossuth, called Ukraine an “economically non-existent country.” He noted that pensions and salaries are paid in Ukraine at the expense of US and EU funds, state administration is carried out and the healthcare system operates, and doubted that this situation could persist for a long time.

“As soon as the United States and the European Union decide to stop funding the Ukrainian state, the war will end,” Orban said (quote according to TASS).

Orban has repeatedly said in the past that Ukraine’s ability to fight depends on U.S. military and financial support. According to him, “if Americans want peace, there will be peace.”

At the same time, the politician noted that Budapest took the “pro-Hungarian side” in the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, it is in the interests of Hungary to preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as to ensure the security of Europe. At the same time, it is unprofitable for Budapest to abandon economic relations with Russia, said Orban in December 2022
