Medvedev announced changes in migration policy

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting of the Security Council in September on the problems of Russian migration policy. Mr. Medvedev recalled that a “comprehensive bill” is currently being prepared, which will regulate the conditions for the stay of foreigners in Russia.

“In September of this year, these issues will be submitted to a meeting of the “big” Security Council, that is, to the meeting of the Security Council itself, dedicated to migration … Therefore, a new comprehensive bill is being prepared, which should regulate the conditions for the entry, exit and stay of foreigners in our country,” explained ex-president at today’s meeting of the Security Council (TASS quote).

The mentioned bill Mr. Medvedev announced back in April. Then he clarified that he supported the creation of unified registers of information about foreigners entering Russia, and also proposed to analyze existing international treaties and “assess their compliance with this bill.” Dmitry Medvedev spoke about the need to change the migration policy last year, noting an increase in the number of crimes committed by migrants.
