Brigitte Macron visiting the Angoulême festival to defend abused children

The first lady went to the Charente capital yesterday to take part in a debate on the prevention of child violence after the screening of Dalvaa film dealing with incest.
WhileEmmanuel Macron flew to Algeria for a three-day official visit, his wife Brigitte Macron went to the 15th edition of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival to participate in the screening of the film Dalva dealing with incest.

This is not Brigitte Macron’s first visit to the “FFA”. Last year, the wife of the President of the Republic had made the trip to discover the film CE2 by Jacques Doillon (still unpublished in theaters) and thus participate in a debate on childhood in danger.
After visiting the retrospective exhibition devoted to Pathé cinema at the Espace Franquin, the first lady had lunch at the restaurant Le Lion Rouge in the company of the organizers of the event, Dominique Besnehard and Marie-France Brière.
She then attended the screening of Emmanuelle Nicot’s first film, Dalva, which places incest at the center of the problem of child abuse. This feature film paints the portrait of a 12-year-old girl who imagines herself as her father’s wife, and who is suddenly removed from her father’s home when he is arrested by the police. Dalva (Zelda Samson) is thus sent to a home for teenagers and the film follows the journey of resilience of this child, from control to awareness…
After the screening, Brigitte Macron took part in a debate alongside Charlotte Caubel, Secretary of State for Children. She told our colleagues of The free Charente: “With the Secretary of State for Children, we are committed to preventing incest because we believe that children and adolescents need to be informed. A child must know his rights, and an adult his duties towards the child.»
Before concluding: “It is essential to give these subjects visibility because we do not necessarily realize the new challenges of society, of all that a child has to manage. We have to help them open their eyes, tell them that we are there and that they can choose who to talk to, and that we will accompany them…”
