The Ukrainian special services exposed a corruption scheme in which the leadership of the Supreme Court took part. Chairman of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Knyazev was detained for a bribe of $3 million. It is assumed that this amount was paid by persons interested in a positive court decision in the case of Ukrainian billionaire and former MP Konstantin Zhevago. It is reported by ZN.UA with reference to its sources.
As specified, the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court considered the issue of invalidating the agreement on the acquisition of 40.19% of the shares of the Poltava mining and processing plant (PGOK) Ferrexpo. As a result of the court decision, these shares were transferred to four companies that were former shareholders of the enterprise, ZN.UA claims.
At the moment, searches are being carried out at 13 judges of the Supreme Court in connection with this case.
According to the Forbes rating, Konstantin Zhevago ranks fifth in the list of the richest Ukrainian businessmen with a fortune of $1.4 billion (before the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, his assets were estimated at $2 billion, and he ranked third). Zhevago is a shareholder of more than 50% of the mining company Ferrexpo, which owns the Poltava mining and processing plant and other enterprises in this industry in Ukraine.
