Media: Russians bought a record number of homes in Spain in nine years

As El País reports, citing data from the Center of Notarial Statistics, in the first half of 2023, the volume of home purchases in Spain by foreign citizens decreased by 7.5%. However, this situation does not seem to affect Russians.
As specified, the number of transactions with Russians increased by more than 50%, and for the first time since 2014, the six-month volume exceeded two thousand purchase and sale transactions.
“It’s more difficult for them to buy because of anti-money laundering regulations,” says a real estate agent who specializes in eastern European markets. According to him, they are successfully overcoming this obstacle, since “many now come with other passports, sometimes with Israeli, American or even Ukrainian.”
