Media: RANEPA Rector Mau is the only defendant in the case pleaded not guilty

Investigative actions in the case of RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau have been completed. This was reported by the RIA Novosti and TASS agencies, citing law enforcement sources. According to them, Vladimir Mau pleaded not guilty. Together with him, the ex-head of the Ministry of Education Marina Rakova and the rector of Shaninka Sergey Zuev are involved in the case.
“All the defendants, except for the rector of the RANEPA himself, gave full confessions and declared their readiness to compensate for the damage,” a source told RIA Novosti.
According to the agencies, the criminal case under the fraud article against Vladimir Mau consists of three episodes. Firstly, the rector of the RANEPA is considered to be involved in the non-fulfillment of agreements between the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (MVSES, or Shaninka) and the Foundation for New Forms of Education Development.
Secondly, Vladimir Mau is accused of fictitious employment of 12 employees of the Ministry of Education and the Institute of Social Sciences of the RANEPA. Thirdly, the investigation believes that the rector fictitiously employed an assistant to the ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Education, Marina Rakova, at the Federal Institute for the Development of Education, RANEPA. The investigation believes that the total amount of damage caused to the university by all these actions amounted to 21 million rubles.
Marina Rakova pleaded guilty on August 4. Sergey Zuev – August 3. Only after that he was released from the pre-trial detention center, where he was under arrest for nine months. Marina Rakova was not relieved of her preventive measure and was left in a pre-trial detention center.
