Media: Macron threatened to dissolve parliament

According to the BFMTV channel, French President Emmanuel Macron is threatening to dissolve the national assembly if the vote on the pension reform project fails. The final vote on the project will take place in the National Assembly on Thursday. If the project is accepted, the retirement age could be raised to 64, something most French people disagree with.
A government source told the TV channel that the president met with Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne and ministers in charge of pension reform to discuss the threat of dissolving the assembly if the vote fails. The Élysée continues consultations to mobilize around the reform vote.
The media note that the current week will be decisive for the government. The French Prime Minister noted that she does not want to use article 49.3 of the constitution, which allows the government to pass bills without parliamentary approval. She has already resorted to this measure 10 times in order to pass the 2023 budget bills last fall. However, such a move can be perceived as a weakness of the authorities, who failed to convince the deputies of the need for reform and collect the necessary majority of votes to support the bill.
