The Israeli Ministry of Social Welfare excluded Ukrainian refugees from the category of recipients of free medical services in Israeli medical institutions. In addition, medical insurance for citizens of Ukraine who have reached the age of 60 has also been canceled.
According to NEWSru.co.il, the reason for this decision lies in the change in financial policy. The Ministry of Finance has stopped allocating funds for medical care for Ukrainians who do not have Israeli citizenship.
Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance has sent about 100 million shekels to the Ministry of Social Security to support Ukrainian refugees. Of this amount, 80% was directed to provide medical assistance to refugees and pensioners in Ukraine.
At the moment, the number of Ukrainian citizens in Israel is 14,692 people. Previously, within the framework of the Tsav HaShaa program, developed after the outbreak of the Ukrainian conflict, the Ministry of Social Affairs provided them with support.
