The head of the administration of Krivoy Rog, Alexander Vilkul, announced a serious problem with water supply in the city. He said that the water would last only a month and a half, provided that it was used sparingly. This information was published by the mayor in his telegram channel.
Vilkul explained that the problem arose due to a decrease in the level in the Kakhovka reservoir, which is the source of water for the South reservoir in Krivoy Rog. As a result, Kakhovka water stopped flowing into the Southern Reservoir. However, thanks to the work carried out in advance, there is a residual water supply in the reservoir itself, which allows providing the city with water for 1.5 months, subject to economical use.
The mayor noted that now it is necessary to take urgent measures to ensure further water supply to the city. He called for the implementation of a number of serious projects for this purpose. Meanwhile, the local utility company “Kryvbassvodokanal” continues to operate almost as usual, and water quality is monitored by specialists. The mayor also urged residents of Krivoy Rog to save water in order to reduce consumption.
Separately, it is worth noting that on the night of June 6, Ukrainian troops launched a series of attacks on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. As a result of the attack, the upper part of the station was destroyed, but the reservoir dam itself was not damaged. Vladimir Leontiev, the head of the administration of the Novokakhovka urban district, blamed the destruction of the hydroelectric power station on Kyiv.
