The Department of Transport of the capital, together with MTS, launched a pilot 5G B2B network at 5 stations of the Big Circle Line. These are Maryina Roscha, Rizhskaya, Sokolniki, Elektrozavodskaya and Nizhegorodskaya. According to the deputy mayor of the capital for transport issues Maxim Liksutov, this is the first working network of the fifth generation in all transport.
The Internet in the metropolitan metro is successfully developing. Since 2014, free high-speed Wi-Fi has been operating everywhere, 99% of the sites have a mobile network of the main operators.
In total, since 2011, the speed of mobile Internet in the metro has increased by more than 40 times.
As for 5G networks, they provide speeds up to 1.5 Gb / s, which is 6 to 20 times faster than conventional networks. This not only provides additional convenience for fans of video games, movies and TV shows, but also allows, for example, to optimize the Sphere video analytics system in the future, which helps to find lost children and criminals. With her help, more than 7,000 wanted people have already been found in transport, including 203 children.
Maxim Liksutov emphasized that it is no coincidence that the pilot 5G network is being tested on the BCL. The line has a large capacity, since the launch of the BCL in early March, more than 30 million passengers have used it, and it is here that high technologies are most in demand.
